Really, really sorry to hear the news of Don’s passing. To be taken from us in the prime of his life when according to James he still had another marriage in him. I think Don may always have been in the prime of his life – he always seemed to love life, and that was so infectious. I worked for him at the Cock and Bottle for several years – a bar job like no other, working for a boss like no other. A true gent with a cheeky flirty nature, but I always knew I was safe with Don around – he looked out for those he loved and cared for. I went on to work for him again at the Golden Ball on a Sunday evening – often after a long journey back from playing for York Women’s RUFC.
I was also introduced to my son, Jackson’s Dad, Tony Brown at the Cock and Bottle – Don used to ask me what I saw in him when I could have him (Don).
Well Don, I hope you have met up with TB, Slimline, Carl Neary and some of the others we have lost and that you are all having a good catch up and a few pints together now. Love you. Jo xxx
