Professor Neil Bulleid

1

I’d like to express my heartfelt condolences to the Bulleid family for their loss.

I worked with Neil for four years at Glasgow from 2011-2015 during which time he was my PhD supervisor. I greatly admired Neil and have many fond memories of working with him. As a supervisor Neil really helped me grow, he was able to see the good in each person and help them to gain confidence and flourish. Neil also brought a lot of fun to science and was very inspiring. I always enjoyed our one-to-one meetings where he’d encourage creative ideas and was supportive whenever there were problems.

I found Neil to be humble and easy to talk to. He had a great sense of humor and a kind and generous spirt. In the years after leaving the lab Neil continue to be a great support to me. He was always interested to hear how things were going, and to offer advice, which was always greatly respected and appreciated. I, and many other of his students and colleagues would take time to visit him long after leaving the lab, which is testament to the warm feelings we had for him. For me he was a great role-model as to be how to be a scientist, leader, and person.

I’m grateful to have known Neil and he will be dearly missed.
