I have a very vivid memory of the impact Hammy made when he arrived in Scotland. Most of the roster was already in, but Ryan Finnerty was still looking for a key piece of The Clan. Mike seemed like such a quiet wee polite guy, we couldn’t have predicted how much he would light up our rink and UK hockey over the next 7 years.
Everytime he came back to Braehead Arena, whether it was with Storm or Panthers, he was always up for a chat and seemed very fond of his time in Glasgow (he formed quite the motely crew of buddies up here with Harry Quast and Callum Boyd) and I know from speaking with him just how excited he was to be with the Clan again for this year. The team will be taking his “Hammond 21” Jersey and his spirit with them to every game this year.
Rest in peace, pal
