Andy Debski
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Andy’s passing, he was a well-liked and valued part of the team, a real presence in the Council and well-known across the organisation. He had a huge amount of knowledge on housing and fraud, and a keen sense of justice – he never missed an opportunity to chase a wrong-doer and he once recovered £90,000 in business rates for the Council as a result of an article he spotted while reading his Sunday paper! Andy would be the first to tell me about changes in law and policy he had heard about, and any effects this might have on the team, and he was always ready to help colleagues too, generously sharing his knowledge and experience. He often spoke of his children, and his deep love for them was obvious. I will miss him greatly, as I know colleagues across the Council will too.
