Dear Sarah, Alice & Harry

It is with great sadness that I heard the news of Steven’s passing. I am frankly lost for words and cannot but express my most sincere condolences.

I met Steven when I joined ICG in 2016 and from the first interaction I knew we would get along well. He was such a generous and loveable person. These traits were apparent for everyone to see and were what made Steven universally liked. I remember him teaching me how to improve (my frankly unimprovable) golf swing and gave me his precious time while witnessing me hacking away from tree to tree. It was during one of these outings (I have added a picture of one of our most memorable rounds in Portugal) that we started to talk rowing and music. Rowing, a sport both our much-loved spouses pursue, and music, a shared passion. DJ Steven had an encyclopedic knowledge and appreciation of music, thus I thought I could only truly express my appreciation for Steven through a musical tribute. I thought it would be fitting to encompass the song you chose “You are my Sunshine” and Lennon/McCartney’s “With a Little Help from my Friend” – reminiscing the Wonder Years we had with Steven and the friend we lost.

Sarah, Alice and Harry, know that Steven was immensely proud of you, loved you above everything and talked about you lovingly often. From personal experience I can say that grief seems unbearable but gets better over time. Please know that the door is always open and “With a Little Help from your Friends” life will be bright again. The world is poorer for having lost Steven, but I feel richer by having had the honor of having him be part of my life.

With deep sympathy,Francesco with Nadine, Eleonora and Amelia
