I am blessed honoured and so so privileged to have known such an amazing man as Rupert and to have shared in some of the chapters of his life. The world is a sadder place without him in it, well his physical presence at least. I know in my heart his energy is still all around us and will live on in our hearts forever. It makes me so happy that my children knew him, knew of his ability to make us laugh, his ability to be silly and play crazy games with them from since they were babies. Wrapping them in blankets chucking them over his shoulder and announcing loudly how he was just off to take the rubbish to the bins. Wild squeals of joy and laughter came out of the wriggling blanket for the whole neighbourhood to hear. They would demand and plead with him to chase them and take them out to the rubbish at every visit! He introduced us all to the comedy ‘Dinner For One’ all of us our two families together howling with laughter until our faces hurt. Long walks in Devon countryside with beautiful auntie Morgan and finding secret beaches, taking turns carrying the small children on our backs until they were big enough to walk on their own, each walk they would copy him by finding a huge stick from a broken branch or fallen tree, he taught them well that this was an essential item for a good walk, great for defending yourself from wild creatures or aiding you from sinking in mud holes or quicksand! We would find big green hills to roll down together, and participate in hill rolling championships with Rupert booming encouragement to them before throwing himself down the hill too. The dogs loved his visits as much as we did and were always overexcited in his presence. I just can’t believe you are gone, I always wished I could have had a father like you, Rupert my love we will miss you, thank you for enriching the lives of all our family members. Until we meet again goodbye my friend. X
