I met John in 2013 when I joined WG48 and John and I were the GB reps. We had many enjoyable trips to various parts of Europe to meet with the wonderful and welcoming members of the WG.

One of the best WG trips was in 2017 with John and my wife, Sue, when we took a boat ride on Lake Geneva on a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon after the meeting.

I am writing this after a recent holiday to Italy, a country John enjoyed visiting, and Switzerland. Sue and I thought of him, with happiness and sadness, as we looked over Lake Geneva from Lausanne and ate our evening meal by Lake Maggiore.  

John and I were also involved in some other enjoyable RSSB projects, where John’s wit and knowledge was displayed and used. 

John spoke of pride of his family, particularly the younger ones and their progress and achievements.
