Mervyn Paterson

Mervyn Paterson Born on March 7,1925 at Booleroo, South Australia
I wish to express my condolences to the Paterson family, and especially to Elizabeth who helped her father over many years and her bother Barrie (of Araluen fame). I recently looked at my e-mails exchanged with Mervyn over 30 years, he remained very thoughtful to the end. However, one from not long ago contained “But I did manage to have a holiday in Laos and Vietnam recently and survived that”. Mervyn was an easy person to talk to and work with. He always started from the basics and worked on towards the complex. He was a lover of Australian trees, flowers, birds and animals. He once told me in e-mail that should been have born the last century, this was sparked by the lack of computer skills, but he enjoyed life for 95 years, not many of us get to that age. I am happy to that Mervyn had a good life and he had and deserved and wonderful family. For me my arrival in the Australian summer of 1976 with 30°C, after the frost on the runway of Heathrow airport was for me a big contrast in temperature. I certainly still have memories of our trip to the Arluen valley in December 1976 with Mervyn, Katalin and Barrie to see Barrie’s plot of land near the river.
Mervyn,
Thanks for good times
Here is drink for the road all the best David
