Jonathan Nichols

I first met Jonny in the early 1990’s and was immediately in awe of his confidence and charisma. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel relaxed in his presence, often through the medium of laughter.
I have so many memories of Jonny that immediately bring a smile to my face, from weekends away visiting him as he studied in Manchester, to holidays, nights out in Leeds or Harrogate, sporting events or when we lived with Jim and Mike in a house in Harrogate that became a party house every weekend. So many laughs and good times that makes me feel blessed to have known this amazing man.
His career achievements were outstanding but no surprise, he was hugely intelligent, especially emotionally, and his leadership qualities were very clear from a young age, also through the sporting teams he led. So, his rise to the top in his teaching career seemed inevitable looking back, and I know along the way he has positively impacted people’s lives – pupils, parents, and colleagues.
As happens in life, we drifted apart in recent years but would speak or text on occasion and, with great friends, the passing of time changes nothing.
Jonny, thank you for being a fantastic and much-loved friend, you will be so greatly missed. Rest in peace X
