I was Simon’s line manager between 2014 and 2019 and have known him since 2006. Simon’s characteristics: dogged determination and an innate sense of fairness meant that he was often a thorn in the side of some of industry’s more difficult characters but, at the same time, he was well respected and liked by others. He was also well known to the many Trade Bodies who are interested in the area of borderline products and, while they may not always have agreed with him, he was very well liked and respected. Although Simon worked from home for the duration of my time managing him I spoke to him every Friday and our discussions always started with problem cases (which we always agreed how to deal) and frequently ended with a discussion about football (the only topic we rarely agreed on).
I am so sorry to hear of his passing and pass on my condolences to you.
