Bill was my work colleague and friend at Belron Technical for 15 years.  We both had previously worked at Barclays.    He chose to call me ‘Chas’.
I taught him all he knew about using Excel spreadsheets, including the mysteries of pivot tables.
For his part, Bill was that reliable ‘fount of all technical knowledge’.
Bill was immensely likeable, considerate, and had his wonderful ‘east end’ turn of phrase.
We talked often about football … one of the few West Ham fans I have ever known.   Alas Bill rarely had much to brag about.
We shared a passion for classic rock music … he loved those epic guitarists like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rory Gallagher.
Bill was great organiser of work social events – in this picture, on a fish and chip canal boat supper, are his teammates, from left to right, myself, Patrick Weckx, Alistair Carlton, Gwen Daniel and Scott Rodger.

Most of all, Bill was what we Londoners describe as ‘a really good bloke’.
There is no one who would have anything less than a positive word to say about Bill.
His passing, in such dramatic circumstances, is a tragedy that is unlikely ever to fully sink in.
Bill walked his every step with immense poise and dignity … a shining example to us all.
My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his family, who I know he lived for, loved, and adored so very very much.
