Ian Findlay CBE
I am struggling to take in this tragic news. I have known Iain since moving to Comrie around 20 years ago. Alongside his busy and demanding work roles, Ian has always been an active and influential part of the Comrie community. As a founder trustee of the Comrie Development Trust, Ian played a key role in the purchase of Cultybraggan Camp – 90 acres of land secured for local people under the Land Reform legislation, and gradually being developed as a model of sustainable development for rural communities across Scotland. The photo shows the thriving allotment and orchard quarter of the Camp, where Ian and his wife Andrea were proud and productive plot-holders. Passionate and principled, but always gentle, calm and consensus-building, Ian could always be relied on to give wise counsel and calm difficult situations. Above all, Ian was a good friend to many and we will miss him hugely.
