James McVeigh

This is so sad and shocking – taken far too soon. Just awful. I was the librarian at Manor High School (in the B’ham area of England) whilst James was an English teacher and literacy coordinator. He’d often be in the library as we worked on reading projects together and he spearheaded the first school-wide sponsored read. He was always one of the most popular teachers amongst students. I remember his cheeky sense of humour, always cracking funny comments and making people laugh. For World Book Day he would always come to school in costume, once as Princess Fiona from Shrek (including green body paint), which was the talk of the school! The school staff are all saddened and shocked at this sad news. Other school staff remember James dancing on the tables at a work party and telling off a pupil whilst dressed as Homer Simpson. James was a lovely fella and leaves behind happy memories for many, many people. I hope, in time, this may be a small comfort to his grieving family X
