In Memory of

Shorne Beatty

At CDW we recently lost our co-worker Shorne Beatty. Shorne was a highly respected, hard-working person who just got on with the job without complaints and his work benefitted many throughout the business. In his memory I would like everybody to share their experiences with Shorne, it may be one line or it may be a short story, however you word it this for everybody at CDW and NetApp to show their friendship, appreciation and their memories of this great person with his family.

Shorne was my brother. We had not seen or spoken to each other in about 30 years and I have just found out that he has passed away.   I am warmed as I read through every one of the lovely messages from your friends and colleagues, Shorne; I feel echos of our Dad in all of these wonderful heartfelt words from people who held you such high regard.   Well done on your successes and your great friendships. I’m sad that you were taken away too soon.   Rest in peace mate. Nigel. …

Shorne was the perfect co-worker, superb at his job with encyclopedic knowledge and a great quick wit. He’ll be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to all his family and friends  …

Shorne was such a great guy, I worked with him a number of times and he became a good friend over the years. Always happy to help and give advice, always spoke his mind and he knew his stuff better than anyone. From the words spoken at his service, it shows the love and respect Shorne had from all his family and friends. He will be missed.  …

There alot of great things I could say but to put it simply Shorne was an absolute legend. I had the pleasure of working closely with him over the last 4 years and a key contributor in creating the success we had together. I had nothing but admiration for his passion and always really enjoyed the opportunities we had to work together. Win or lose I knew I could count on him and his wit.  …

Rest in peace Shorne. Always a friendly face and a real subject matter expert, anything he didn’t know wasn’t worth knowing! He will be sorely missed …

Shorne, the old salty sea dog. He and i worked together all the way back from 2007 and were very successful selling loads into my customers. A fantastic guy, who my customers all loved, and whom I thought of as more of a friend then colleague at times. We always had many a discussion about Brighton & Hove Albion and Leyton Orient, i particularly enjoyed his stories of the livelier days of him supporting Brighton home and away. I will miss him.  …

I have worked with Shorne for the last 9 years. He was a top genuine guy, he was funny and often grumpy, like me hated idiots! We often enjoyed chats about fixing the world. He had a great level of expertise and knowledge and had a huge impact on NetApp sales and I’m sure all at CDW will miss his presence. I could always ring Shorne up and get his assistance and knowledge. Great guy, you are missed……rest in peace …

It goes without saying that Shorne was a diligent, hard working member of the team with a meticulous eye for detail when working on any project large or small. However, the fondest memory of Shorne is as a true gentleman….a very caring soul with a playful sense of humour however hard he tried to keep up his grumpy persona. One of the highlights of team get-togethers was spending time with Shorne and chuckling at his witty take on all things work and non-work related. God bless Shorne and sleep well …

I had the pleasure of working on a number of deals with Shorne over the years.  He actually joined me on my first customer meeting almost 10 years ago, we didn’t win that one but we had plenty of wins after that.  He once called me on the train just as the doors closed at City Thameslink after I had frantically sent a storage proposal to a client late on a Friday night. He said “I see you sent the final quote across to your client ….. any reason why you sent the last 2 week email chain between me, you, disti and Netapp as well ? “. It felt like the longest 40 minute train journey ever until I could get back home, log on and try and recall the message.  I never did recall it and the client never mentioned it. I can’t repeat the commentary between me and Shorne about the client on here, but if you knew Shorne he wasn’t shy about his views and made it clear in the back and forth e-mail replies what he thought of them trying to penny pinch 🙂  A true gent you will be sadly missed. My thoughts …

I worked with Shorne quite a lot over the past couple of years. He was one of the most helfpul and proactive people i have had the pelasure of working with. Even though he would call himself grumpy old man he was always happy to go the extra mile when you needed him. RIP …
