I have so many fond memories of Richard from his time at DACA. He supported many of my lessons with SEN groups and loved nothing more than reading aloud to the group- he would put his hand up like a student and wait to be chosen. At any opportunity,Richard loved to impart his Historical knowledge on the class, particularly if it meant talking of war days. The class would just start at him in awe. He was also caught out once or twice for resting his eyes during a lesson haha. Even after retirement, Richard came back to school to do his Elvis number and when he knew my classes were studying Oliver Twist,he dropped off DVD the very next day. I once wrote on Facebook about a craving I had for chocolate chewy nuts, and hey presto a bag came with him to school! The students at DACA absolutely adored Mr Eaves and I know that they will be truly devastated to hear of his sad passing. My most fond memory of Richard was of him as Santa. Not only when he visited a local bar in Darwen to play the role, in school fairs, Oswaldtwistle Mills but …
