We have been on holiday at the Crane now for 7 days, and each day we have been wandering the resort looking for Mel as we always do when we visit. Thinking he may be on vacation we decided to ask for him at reception, and was then informed of this awful tragic news . We first met Mel 12 years ago at the Crane resort, and it was Mel that showed us around the resort at that time and was the one that helped us make up our mind to purchase here . We never really knew we had made a friend until we came back a year later , and wandering round the resort he spotted us and gave us the warmest, friendliest greeting you could ever expect to receive, and insisted we have a quick rum with him in 1887… a quick rum he said…  3 hrs later having had the most amazing conversation ever, he had to duck and hide as someone was coming along in the distance and he was whispering saying sorry guys I gotta go I’m supposed to be at work lol, and off he crept. He managed to pay the bill before he …

Emily and I offer condolences, to Mel’s family and friends. I worked with Mel at The Crane and he was consistently positive, happy, and had a smile to share with everyone, he touched so many people’s lives. He instinctively knew when you needed a chat, some kind words or he would crack a joke, a true gentleman. I will miss you, Mel. RIP my friend! …

First time I met Mel and Denise was 1994. Anytime we had the chance to meet our talks led into philosophy level about God and the world. Mel was the coolest person I have ever met and I learnt so much from him. How less it needs to be happy but how little we can do to make the world a better place.  You always gave but stayed humble and friendly. Your great personality will be missed!  Denise, I think of you all and send you love and strength! May his soul rest in perfect peace …
