In Loving Memory of

FA85EAAD-24C5-4E5A-8F1A-BF126301F464

Mark Pickering

Mark was a loving Son to Dave, devoted Dad to Matthew, much-loved Brother to Steve, Gavin and Stuart and Uncle to Ross, Kyan, Edan and James.

Mark was loved by many friends, of which he met through all walks of life. He was a very caring man and incredibly resilient. A man of immense talent and passion for the things he loved.

Not many passions in Mark’s life outweighed his love for his football club, West Ham United. This was a huge part of his life and was more than just a weekend hobby to him.

We would love for you to share your memories of Mark in this book and any messages you have.

So sorry to hear about Mark’s passing. I had left him a couple of voicemail messages and texts and now know why he hadn’t replied. Shocked to say the least. Met Mark about 12 years ago and was a financial adviser to him and fellow Hammer sharing the ups and downs of West Ham. Best wishes to Matt and all the family. RIP mate x  …

We were so sad to hear of Mark’s passing. We have known him for many years through Carole at Broomfield Road Evangelical Church in Chelmsford. He was always the gentleman, kind and full of fun. He would joke with Roger about Leyton Orient, the poor relation of West Ham! Our thoughts and prayers are with Carole, Matthew and all of Mark’s family. …

I was very shocked and sad to learn of Mark’s passing. I met Mark through Carole and immediately thought he was a lovely person. I could see he and Carole were made for each other. His sense of humour was only one of his many attributes. Having dinner at Carole’s one time, I can’t remember what we ate but do remember having a great laugh together. You will be greatly missed Mark. My condolences go out to Carole, and Matthew and his family. …

Dear Carole, We were surprised and saddened to hear of Marks passing. Our hearts go out to you, your family and Marks family. As neighbours, we met Mark through Carole and he joined our community wholeheartedly. He always had a smile, was easy to chat to and willing to help and advise us with our community development. It was always nice to see his smile peeking out of the windows of his sports car.  We remember the two of you sitting on the front lawn over the summer as we barbecued. This was him joining the community spirit during these hard times. It was obvious how much of a nice guy he is even in the little time we knew him.  The news of his passing is especially difficult during this time because how do we take care of each other in the context of not being able to be with each other. Carole, we want you to know that you are in our thoughts and Mark’s memory lives on through the kindness and joy he showed us.  …

We were so very shocked and saddened to hear of Mark passing in such a devastating way. We were just getting to know Mark, having seen him be such a loving influence to our dear friend Carole. He attended my 70th party where I found he had been a DJ like me, and this connection became a binding to our developing friendship. Our sincere condolences to Mathew, all his family, Carole and his many friends. …

We have been so shocked and sad about the loss of dear Mark from this awful virus.  Still can’t believe he has gone.  He will be greatly missed.  All our memories of Mark are that he was such a positive, cheerful, enthusiastic person, so friendly and polite.  We met Mark through Carole and have known him for many years.  Mark and Carole came to Broomfield Road Evangelical Church together regularly and were also part of a bible study group that met in our house every other week.  Mark was also a regular attendee and supporter of the church men’s group, enthusiastically taking part in events and providing much encouragement.  Mark and Carole were so good together and our heart goes out to Carole in her loss and also to Mark’s son and family.  Mark thought a lot of his family and would often speak proudly about his son.  Mark also spoke at church about the faith of his mother and how he had found this faith for himself in recent years.  We hope to see you again one day Mark.  For now, we miss you.  God bless xx …

We spoke almost every week, mostly about football and our shared love of claret & blue, you West Ham me Burnley. It was after the match on Saturday that I realised we hadn’t spoke since Christmas, and I thought something must be wrong. When I was told the news by Debbie today, you had gone, I was in a state of shock. I regarded you as friend rather than just a business associate, I send all my best wishes and prayers to Matt and all the family, your loss is  a million times more than mine. I wish you all peace as you come to terms with it all. Rest in Peace Mark. …

I knew Mark through Carole and I was always struck by his genuine warmth and openness.  He was always interested in others, had a great sense of humour and was a pleasure to be around.  He was a people person, and would put anyone at their ease.  He will be greatly missed and has touched many lives.  Mark and Carole found happiness with each other, such a lovely hospitable couple, and I have good memories of our times together.  Rest in peace Mark.  God bless you xxx …
