I first met Jonathan back in 2016 when I started working for the REMAT, where I stayed for around 5 years. I can echo what many people say about Jonathan in that he was very passionate and dedicated to his work and a very inspirational leader. Genuine and approachable he was a rare type of person who you would only have to meet once and you would never forget them. RIP Jonathan. X …

Jonathan, today it dawned on me I hadn’t written in your condolence book – apologies! But what a day to be reminded when attending The Pretty Muddy Cancer Research run in your memory, on your 46th birthday! What a testament to you and your legacy, that so many people took part, provided spectator support and donations for such a great cause. I’m sure you felt the energy from everyone taking part to celebrate YOU! Additionally, I still think about you and your caring ways often. How you always rooted for and wanted the best for everyone you met and showed that through individual support and advice along their journeys. This came in the form of big or sometimes small, yet powerful nuggets of wisdom, that will stay with us forever. Thank you and Happy Birthday up there. Kim and the kids are amazing and I know you will continue to be proud of them, your family, friends and Rainbow family for years to come. Take care, Emma xx …

It was an absolute pleasure to work with you, Jonathan. I always enjoyed catching up with you, sharing ideas and collaborating. I got so much from our visits to each others schools and our different and often innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Our meetings were always a highlight in my diary, not just for the education conversation and pedagogical discussions but for the laughs and the banter! You leave a huge legacy and made such a positive impact on so many lives. Sleep well.  …

What I’ll always remember about you is the kindness, care and compassion that you showed to everyone around you. It was always a privilege to be in the same room as you and I loved hearing your sporting analogies and funny stories. You lit up the room with your humour, warmth and genuine interest in everybody. You were so proud of the Rainbow family you had created and we will continue your legacy to ensure that each and every child reaches their potential. I send my heartfelt sympathy to your wife, Kim, your children and your family and friends. We’ll miss you so much. …

I can think of so many calls where the duo of Jonathan and James just had me in stitches!  His commitment and pride in his work was inspirational, and he will be truly missed.  My heart goes out to his family, but a man that touched the lives of so many in such a positive manner will not be forgotten. …

Quite simply one of the finest, most fair minded and inspirational people I have ever come across. I only saw Johnathan teach once as he had moved the head of school role by the time I began work with St Silas, but it was quite unlike anything I have seen before or since. A very upset child was being rowdy and violent and the teacher responsible for him brought him to Johnathan to discuss his behaviour. I was quite sure I was going to witness a stern display by Johnathan to show the child the incorrectness of his ways, but instead he simply asked the child to sit down and try to relax. After a few minutes when it was clear the student was calmer ,Johnathan went over to him and disarmingly discussed what was the problem. The child looked as surprised as I was and within a few minutes the child that left Johnathan’s office was a differnet person. Smiling and calm. This was just one of many occasions when I saw just what a special person Johnnathan was. My life and those that knew him are worse off for him not being amongst us anymore. My deepest..deepest …

I am so pleased I had the chance to meet you and work with you. Your passion for education and constant drive to pursue the best for every child and staff member was truly remarkable. You were always so lovely to talk to, making people laugh but giving really thoughtful messages.  You showed such kindness to me during a really difficult time in my life, even though you were facing greater challenges yourself. Your bravery and resilience was an inspiration. Sending love to all Jonathon’s family.  Thank you for everything Jonathon xx    …

Jonathan you where such an amazingly talented man,who genuinely cared about the children and teachers in all the schools and all the other people who were fortunate to know you.You loved your family passionately and you were so proud of them all and that shone through when you talked about them. From the 1st time I walked around St Silas with you, you shared your vision of the jobs you wanted doing, not really sure how you retained so much information but you did 😊you were such an inspiration that I wanted to ensure we done the best job we could and always gave that discretionary effort. You are going to be missed so much by so many people you were genuinely one of a kind.RIP my friend you will always be in my thoughts GNGB x …

Jonathan, what an immense and immeasurable loss. You were always such a kind and thoughtful person who took the time to ask others about their lives and journey which made them who they are. Months could go by and you’d remember what seemed like the smallest detail because you genuinely cared about investing, both personally and professionally, in everyone that you met.  That investment for others is at the heart of the REMAT. Your passion for each and every child is something so special and this legacy, driven by you, will live on forever. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this heartbreaking time. Thank you for everything. …
