I was very shocked to hear that Jeff had died. I first met Jeff in 1982 when I joined Link Systems which later became Oxford Instruments Microanalysis Group.  I have always regarded Jeff as one of the best computer programmers I have known.  I was amazed at his ability to write an operating system for the computers we programmed in the 1980s and at his mental dexterity in solving logical problems.  Later Jeff was a very well organised project manager for important projects for the company such as ISIS.  I lost touch with Jeff when I left Microanalysis Group in 1997 but I always remember him as serious minded and exceptionally competent at everything he did. …

Dear Jane and Anthony, Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Jeff for 15 years with OI and now Hitachi. He was always kind and supportive to me and all those around him, regardless of who they were or what they did for the business. The term ‘gentleman’ is often used but in Jeff’s case it truly is deserved and appropriate. He was kind, respectful and calm regardless of the situation and always looked to help and support others. Jeff will me much missed, but never forgotten by all that knew him. Best wishes Ben …
