An Ode to Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh   Yes The Queen is head of her countries But; He’s the King of his house To those that truly know him He’s a Lion, disguised as a mouse He walks two steps behind his wife Because that’s what he’s supposed to do A man that believes in duty That he has followed his whole life through.   Even when they said that his children Would not be allowed his name Once again he followed his duty For that was the name of the game He lived, until a few months away from a Hundred And a letter was due from his Queen But who needs a letter when he’s married To the love of his life, and yes, the girl of his dreams.   There is so much more that I could tell you About a Man’s man, a hero to the land that he loved Although in the beginning, he experienced racism He overcame it because of his faith from above Which saw him overcome the same trials That many an immigrant still goes through Like a time capsule that reveals its purpose Once re-discovered and displayed for …

To Her Majesty the Queen, Her Royal Highness and the Royal Family, I was deeply saddened to see on BBC news here in Germany, that Prince Philip had died. I would like to express my heartfelt condolensces on the loss of your husband, strength and stay, your Majesty and to the family my deepest sympathy at the passing of your father, grandfather, father in law et al. I am a British and German citizen, born in Sheffield  where I once watched the Queen pass by from the window of the police station where my father was a policeman. I remember your green outfit. I have always been a royalist and am very proud of my Royal Family. I have enormous respect for the years of dedication of my Queen and since the passing of Prince Philip, I now see just what a great man he was and all that he stood for. He was faithful to the end and I think, a caring father. His concern for the planet and for wildlife and the promotion of our responsibility to be good stewards was great. Also this great idea to have the scheme under his name to help young people …

My wife and I wish to pass on our love and condolences to her majesty the Queen and her family at the passing of her husband and their father, grandfather and great grandfather. It was in 1947 as a five year old that I waited at the corner of The Hundred and Palmeston Road in Romsey Hants to see two newlyweds drive pass on their way to Broadlands and their honeymoon. I remember the excitement, hapiness, beautiful car and princess Elizabeth waving. Twelve years later I completed my Duke of Edinburgh’s award and will be eternally grateful for all the values this installed in me at a crucial time in my teenage development. I hope you can get some comfort knowing that you are a great Queen and your husband was a great consort.   …
