In Memory of

Greg Cairns

Greg joined Londonwide LMCs in June 2009 as Director of Primary Care. He has worked across a number of teams within Londonwide LMCs and many of you will have known Greg through LMC work or through his enduring contribution to the wider organisation. Many working in general practice across London will have known him for longer through his earlier NHS commissioning roles.

Greg was a tenacious and hard-working colleague and always good humoured. His commitment to Londonwide LMCs, general practice, GPs and practice staff will long be remembered and greatly missed.

Firstly my thoughts and love are with Greg’s family. I am so sorry for your loss. Greg was someone I absolutely admired and loved working with. He was for me everything that is good about the LMC. Wise, passionate and such a strong advocate for the NHS. If there was a question that needing answering, he knew the answer. He was always measured, fair and was never frightened to challenge when things needed challenging. I feel so priviledged to have worked with him and so sad that I’ll not be working with him again. My love goes to his family friends and colleagues at this difficult time.   …

Waltham Forest Federation Team and I were shocked and immensely saddened to hear of the loss of Greg.  As a partner organisation alongside the LMC, he was knowledgeable, measured, pragmatic and completely understood what is needed to for grass root colleagues and teams to get the most for patients.  As a dear colleague, he was jovial, light hearted yet led and advised with purpose. We hope he rests in peace and his family finds strength and patience through this time. …
