Graham was a fantastic and well respected member of not only our Arla family but within the industry, building strong relationships with our customers, supplier and colleagues alike.
He started his working life back in 1982 at Lockerbie Creamery in the Starter Lab producing cheese cultures for his favourite Lockerbie Cheddar Cheese, progressing through the ranks of Cheesemaker and Cheese Department Manager to become one of the most respected authorities on cheese manufacturing and grading in the UK.
Graham joined the Oswestry team in the autumn of 2019 as the head of the newly formed One Cheese organisation, a role which was created to centralise and coordinate Arla’s entire UK cheese stock. Graham threw himself into the challenges this role presented and within a very short space of time his expertise and passion were making a significant impact to the quality and consistency of our cheeses.
During his time at Arla Graham represented the business at many cheese shows, judging for a number of years at the International Dairy & Cheese awards. He was greatly respected by both colleagues and customers alike for his in-depth knowledge and passion for Cheese.
Outside of work Graham loved his sport. Golf and rugby to name a couple, he also took great pride in the work he put into promoting local produce and businesses through the annual Dumfries Agriculture Show & Food Festival, quickly becoming a key point of contact in the local community for all things food related, something which he was very passionate about.
Graham was an incredibly unique man whose warmth and personality lit up every room, he will be missed by so many colleagues who had the pleasure to work with him over many years.
