Although I didn’t know Fran for very long, I could tell instantly when I started working in our dietetics team how much she positively impacted everyone with her knowledge, wisdom and team spirit. I really miss seeing Fran on a Friday when I come up to the main office for lunch, and often catch myself thinking of her. Fran had a lovely presence and I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her.  …

Fran- You were the most wonderful asset to our dietetic department in Harrogate and we all miss you hugely! For me I will miss our chats around F1. I remember not long after you started with us, when we had both been to the British Grand Prix, I then bought a pink Daniel Ricciardo hoodie and you said it was definitely better than a papaya one! You were a fantastic dietitian and a wonderful person to have around and I will always remember you, especially when I go to Silverstone! …

Thinking of you and miss you every single day Fran ❤️ I am missing our quick catch ups for ‘work purposes’ that turned into hour long phone calls full of us complaining and laughing. So many times I find myself thinking ‘what would Fran do?’ Your knowledge and wisdom has truly shaped me into the Dietitian I am and I couldn’t be more grateful and privileged to have known you. The kindest, most brilliant friend with memories I will cherish forever. Forever the dream team, Megan xxxx …

I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with Fran at Harrogate Dietetic Department, she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.  Fran was compassionate, dedicated, very knowledgeable and she would go the extra mile to provide the best patient care she could.  Her insight and practical approach meant she was so well respected by all, and always a great support.  I will miss our chats and giggles in the community office at the end of the week. Her dedication. warmth and laughter will always be woven into the fabric of our department, reminding us of the incredible colleague and friend you were x …

Fran. A lover of great coffee, jigsaws, pick n mix, a good giggle, novelty tissues, delicious beer, F1, ice cream, all things Christmas, shuffling a bowl/bag of crisps to find the most flavoursome and crispy ones, gin, giraffes, strutting your stuff to RaRaRasputin, perfumed hand san, a good cheese board, Top Gun, ladybird cheese on toast, funky dancing to the latest RnB hit, Obama Llama, Rennies… The fact that you had such a big brain yet still enjoyed The Masked Singer and used noughties txt spk really makes me smile. What I wouldn’t give to scale another stone wall to avoid a cow with you. Or to perform the MNC classic ‘FLANK FRAN’ when a dog’s in sight. Or to have a quality one-to-one chat. You always had such an amazing ability to provide level-headed yet warm, supportive advice. And also appear interested in even my most boring of stories?! A fierce, loyal, fun, smart, generous, kind, determined and simply wonderful woman. An incredible amount of character with such a huge heart, all squeezed into the most perfect little person. Even after I accidentally walked us past Battersea Cats & Dogs Homes, thank you for being one of my …

I first heard of Fran when her manager at interview said someone lovely was joining the team at Harrogate. Indeed this was very true. I first met Fran when I was relocated to a the new main office the day she arrived in the Department.  Even though I had been there 8 years I asked Fran the quickest way to leave the building, and she made me giggle when assuming we’d started the same day! Although our paths didn’t cross often, I enjoyed our office chats – bonding over discussions on Yorkshire versus Lancashire rivalries, the Otley scene, house DIY issues, and the benefits of an office window seat! Fran was the first person I told I was going through rebanding and she was so supportive, sharing insights into the role elsewhere and her close friendship with a fellow paed diabetes dietitian. I will always be grateful to have spent time with Fran and she is greatly missed by the department.  …

I moved to Blackburn in 2014 to start my first job in the NHS. Frances not only became one of my best friends there, but she also unknowingly shaped my whole career. I loved working alongside her on the surgical ward as she had so much additional medical knowledge, she loved the science and the maths of dietetics, not just the part where we talk about food! My entire career trajectory can be traced back to a wonderful, warm, welcoming and always laughing Frances. We would sometimes get so giddy sitting beside each other in the office that the more senior staff would threaten to separate us 😄 Frances was a great friend to me then, we went to the gym together, we went on (rare) nights out together, and she always always talked about her family and her home. Although I only worked there for a year, we stayed in touch. We went on holiday to Portugal one summer, and…almost…fell off a cliff in the dark! I remember struggling to get my head around the fact that she was ACTUALLY serious about her midday nap!  Ours was not a friendship that involved daily or even monthly contact, but …
