Evan – It’s heart breaking knowing the world will never hear your laughter again. We had some crazy adventures together, and that all stemmed from your relentless desire to make the most of every day and every situation. This inspired those around you to do the same. You brought passion, determination, and laughter to every situation which carried through to how proud of a father you were.   It’s hard to believe we flew together on four different continents. You taught me more on those trips than you’ll ever know. I never thanked you enough for being a relentless supporter of me and my career – that support has helped put me where I am today.   Thanks for all the wonderful memories. …

I have known Evan since the late 1990s as Amy’s little brother. I had many chats with Evan at their family home in Langley at the time. Evan was one of the most humble, wise (beyond his years), and observant people I have ever known. I also admired his independence and firm convictions in the kind of career(s) he wanted to thrive in. From what I understand, Evan never compromised on his life path.  I warmly remember his witty conversation and commentary on just about every social topic.  My heart goes out to his family and friends…   …

Hi Alex,   I got to know your Dad for a couple of years over in the UK, parachute dropping at Brize Norton.   On the few occasions we had the opportunity to sit down and talk together we spent more time talking about you and his plans for you, than we did about work or even flying.    He had a plan to bring you with him to the UK when you were old enough, and stop with us here in Worcestershire. Maybe one day if you are here in the UK you might want to meet up, you will certainly be welcomed, and I would love to meet you.   A quick story about your Dad’s flying which will always stay with me. He was teaching me how to master the Shorts Skyvan and told me he could land it without touching the controls, so I just laughed! Anyway, he trimmed the aircraft and lined it up with the runway, and set the throttles. Sure enough the aircraft descended down to the numbers, at which point I wanted to grab the controls, but he just smiled his big smile and said relax and watch. The aircraft sure …

Evan was a big part of my life back when we were navigating the teenage years. While we weren’t close over the past 25 years, I have always valued the immense impact he has had on my life. He was there in my formative years, and he introduced me to so many things that have stayed with me. Fond memories of exploring mountains; riding bikes up to Golden Ears, having him teach me how to place climbing protection, and then climbing up the Blanshard Needle; learning how to use the new rope in the tree in his backyard; baling hay in South Langley; sleeping rough in the public park in Squamish and hitchhiking home. Evan introduced me to Gordon Lightfoot and Stan Rogers and drinking farm-fresh milk from a jar. We would see each other now and then after high school and I learned of him pursuing his career as a pilot and was amazed by his photography. My last time seeing Evan was a chance encounter when I discovered that the pilot flying my field gear into a camp near the Spatsizi was a pilot named Evan, and we got to catch up over beers in Smithers. My …

I met Evan a handful of times over the years through work.  I found him to be kind, personable with a unique ability to be instantly relatable.  I’m certain he left many people with that impression, and I know many people will remember him fondly. My condolences to Evans family who he leaves behind; may you find peace in who he was and the inspiration he leaves behind. …
