In Memory of

Ethan Williams

It is with great sadness that staff and students at the University of Liverpool have learned of the sudden passing on 7th December 2020 of Ethan Williams, a second year Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology student.

We have lost a highly valued and engaged student who had a bright future ahead of him.  He will be missed dearly.

We hope that staff and students in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology will use this online Condolence Book to add their messages of condolences that we can pass on to Ethan’s family.

Dear Ethman, I don’t think I can put into words how much I’m going to miss the sound of that basketball you bounce in the mornings, the stomp of those feet, that beautiful cheesy grin.  You’re a speed demon on the bike, you made the room shine when u walked in it. To the flyest MC in the universe and the master on the decks. You can make anyone smile, even when they’re having a horrid day. You taught me so much, and I carry on to learn from you.  But most importantly, you showed everybody love, no matter where they came from or where they were going. Rest in blissful perfect peace King Caerdydd Diolch yn fawr iawn Nos da my braud x …

I was so sorry to hear of Ethan’s death. He was in my Social Exclusion module and was the only student who used the camera on occasions – I was so grateful for that. Ethan was an engaged, modest and friendly student who always tried hard to make a contribution to the discussion. He will be missed by staff and students alike. Losing a child is a parents greatest fear. My heart goes out to Ethan’s parents  and my deepest sympathy and thoughts to all his family and friends. …

It’s such sad news about Ethan. Writing this, I am left with memories of a kind, warm person. In our seminars he was so encouraging, always asking about ideas, and often offering support to other students.   Condolences to all reading this. Ethan shall be missed.   …

Ethan, you are one of the kindest, funniest and most caring people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. You made everyone, no matter how close they were to you feel as if they were your family. Every time we saw each other around Liverpool you would always be able to make me smile and bring happiness to my day, even if we spoke for a matter of minutes. No one will be able to replace the type of character that you brought to this world. It was an honour knowing you Ethan and I will always miss you.   Charlie xxx …

I’m so very sorry and sad to hear of the sudden passing of Ethan. My heart goes out to his family and friends.  I didn’t know Ethan personally but he was very well-liked and his insightful contributions to seminars were very much appreciated by my colleagues and, no doubt, among his peers alike. He will be very sadly missed.  Rest in peace Ethan.  Sending sympathy and strength to Ethan’s family and friends.    …
