A Book of Remembrance

David Riddiford

Sadly our friend and colleague, David Riddiford, passed away on 16 March 2023.

We invite you to write a message of condolence and to share your memories of David, as one of our colleagues did who paid tribute to David last Friday:

“D as he was known, was such a wonderful and friendly person around Met House and we all benefitted from his warmth and great sense of humour. He was a pragmatic and helpful IT specialist. If you needed something fixed D would appear or dial in, completely disarm the situation with his friendliness and get to the heart of the matter. He was a close confidant to many, became a strong advocate of mental health awareness and helped others of which we are immensely proud. It’s rare in an organisation of our size that everyone gets to know a particular character but D was a force of nature round the building and he will be very sadly missed by everyone.”

This book of condolence will be shared with David’s family who I am sure will appreciate reading your messages and your shared memories.

The day I heard the news about David was a very sad one, and I still can’t believe it’s true. I’m so sorry for your loss. David was such a brilliant personality and certainly a memorable presence in the office. He came across as fun, caring, and an overall great guy. Plus, he was …

So shocked and saddened to hear this news and can’t believe this has happened to one of our own. My heart goes out to his friends and family and closest colleagues. David was always so patient and helpful on the phone with all our IT issues, especially whilst we were waiting for my slowest …

I was not fortunate enough to spend much time with David, but his welcome and support when I first joined the ICAEW, and then with future technical queries, was always incredibly warm and friendly. His gentle character and approachable manner always made it a pleasure to work with him. Sending love and strength to …

I got to meet you earlier this year for the first time and finally put a face to the voice I’d heard so many times when I spoke to the IT Helpdesk. It was only for about 5-10 minutes but it was an absolute pleasure. It’s weird to think that was both the first …

I can always the funny outfits David and Paddy would wear to our Chritmas parties. David was so funny and when speaking with him about anything he was helpful, cracking a joke and any IT issies weren’t a big issue. His going to be sadly missed and my thoughts are with his family and …

Absolutely devastated when i heard this very sad news. David was a beautiful person, always polite and courteous, but most of all friendly, funny, caring and very very patient.  He always laughed so much when i rang with my tech issues (that i could have probably resolved myself) and laugh even more when i …

I was so very shocked and saddened to hear the news about David and my thoughts are with his family and friends. He was always so quick to help, with a ready smile and so much patience as he answered yet another of my daft IT questions. A joy to work with who will …

I did not have the pleasure of meeting David in person. I understand that he was an amazing individual and brought so much joy to people at ICAEW. The work that he performed was vital, as I came to realise many times when I first started here. Thank you to David for the positive difference …

On my first day of training at MET, D was the one who helped set up my laptop and all IT connections. He was warm, patient and answered every one of my (silly) questions. As the days go on, he would pop by to make sure that i was all OK. What a gem! …
