I only worked with Colin briefly at Macmillan (having become his successor in his previous role), but it was always a pleasure to spend time with him and get the benefit of both his great knowledge and skills, and his warmth and humour. It was obvious he was much missed in his old team.  Thinking of him with much affection and of his family – I hope you’re finding comfort in the high esteem and fondness we all felt for him. …

Colin immediately made me feel so welcome when I started my role at Diabetes UK. He was full of warmth and Humor and always said hello- I fondly remember talking to him in the office about his interests outside of work but what stood out to me the most was the love he has for his family and children.  Although I worked with him for a short time, his insight and love for other humans was so impactful and for that I would like to thank him for. Thank you Colin- you will be missed  Rosie  …

Hi I knew Colin briefly working on the Youth Project. I always found him so supportive and helpful. He appreciated my passion for people who live with diabetes and I was able to share my feelings with him. He was an easy man to talk too and had a good sense of humour. As a family you must miss him dreadfully and I think about you often and I will continue to do so. I know many of the young people he recruited to the project were very fond of Colin and were stunned by his untimley passing. I am sure he will be watching over all of you forever. To Colin, to say you will be missed is a profound understatement, but no less true. Your commitment to improving the lives of others was never less than inspirational – and the compassion, candour, humility, and humour with which you did so will continue to be aspirational. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside you and to call you a friend. I hope I can do you proud by remembering the way you brightened the world around you and trying my very best to do the same. To Colin’s family, I wish for you to know that the love and pride he felt for you all shone through his joyous smile whenever he talked about you – and Colin was never short of a smile, which assures me that his love and pride for you were truly immeasurable.  …

Dear Colin, Thank you for the time and energy you spent guiding me at Macmillan, you won’t have realised how much of a mentor you were to some of us just starting out in our careers. You were always a pleasure to be around, and no question was ever too silly or too small. And what an unexpected gift to see your face pop up in a meeting years later, not knowing you’d followed me to Diabetes UK! I always looked forward to bumping into you in the office or often wandering around Dulwich, knowing it would always be a cheerful encounter. You are missed x …

Colin will be greatly missed. He was always a happy, helpful and infectious funny person. He was the person who recruited me for my first role at Diabetes UK and worked with him on the Get Moving programme. He was always willing to help me with anything I needed. We spoke a few times about fatherhood as I’m expecting my first child and he seemed to always be willing to share his experiences with me and you could tell how much he loved his kids. Also, we grew up in the similar area of London, so this was always a talking point for us. Thank you Colin for all your help, great work and being such a great person.  …

Firstly I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Colin was a really great guy, I worked on a project with him he was kind, open to new ideas and had a great sense of humour.   Meetings where he made you feel welcomed, and he always made sure everyone was happy and at ease which set a really lovely tone and environment. Face-to-face in the office he always had a big warm and friendly smile and took the time to check in and see how you were doing.   He often spoke lovingly of his family which was clearly his pride and joy. I am again so sorry for your loss and send my deepest sympathies at the this very difficult time. …

I was deeply saddedned and shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Colin. I was interviewed by colin virtually and started working for the brain and spine foundation during lock down in 2020.  As soon as your face popped up on my screen you instantly made feel at ease.  I could sense even through my nerves I was in safe hands . To this day I am very  grateful to have  met colin and although it was virtually it always felt we were face to face . So much so I find  it very hard to comprehend that we never did. I remember our conversations and the moment we discovered  that you were from County Kildare.  I realise  back then it brought me comfort to  know you  had walked the same  walled town streets of celbridge where I had spent many a happy summer growing up and visiting my irish cousins. Especially when we couldn’t travel and visit our own families. Your Irish eyes were always  smiling and they  motivated me to feel confident that I could work on the helpline and at the same time care for my unique  family. You understood without ever questioning the …
