Chris 2

Chris Piotrowski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Chris Piotrowski.

Chris was one of AB Agri’s longest-serving employees, working for our company for 45 years. His career in the field of NIR was one of continual ground-breaking innovation.

Chris initially headed up AB Agri’s Central Laboratories division, which in due course was renamed Aunir and became part of AB Vista, leading the way globally in near infrared spectroscopy technology and research.

Chris leaves behind a huge legacy at AB Vista and in the wider industry worldwide. Loved and admired by everyone who worked with him, Chris was a true pioneer, an innovator and an educator. His impact on our industry was immense.

There are no adequate words to describe his loss. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I was very sad to hear of Chris’s passing. My condonlences and thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. I have known Chris having worked with him for many years going back as far as 1994 when I joined Perstorp Analyatical, then FOSS and latterly AMPCS. Chris was always a pleasure to work with and and his knowledge of NIR was second to none, his door was never closed whenever I needed help, he was a lovely bloke too! I personally owe Chris a debt of gratitude, without his help and support, AMPCS would never had been the success it has, I will always be eternally grateful for the support he provided and the confidence he showed in me. Chris’s passing is a massive loss to the industry and he has left a large void that will be difficult to fill.  Rest in Peace Chris and thank you, its been a privilege to have known and worked with you. …

Chris Piotrowski Eulogy Friday 28 February 2023   Hello Everyone, I am Paul, a friend and colleague of Chris’s, and I have the privilege of saying a few words on behalf of his AB Vista colleagues, his team, past colleagues and the global NIR community, plus those that are not able to be here today, of which there are many.   Chris was a highly industrious leader, with a proven track record of transferring innovative NIR functions into world class-leading business solutions. Widely recognized globally for his contributions to the development of NIR calibrations for agricultural applications, and beyond, including many novel applications based on animal in-vivo studies, no mean task.   That’s one way to sum up Chris, but Chris was more than that, Chris was the person we all strive to be like, and in many ways his name sums him up more than I can express, he was;   Charming and caring Honourable and heartfelt Responsible and resourceful Inventive and incisive Sincere and a scholar Chris started working in the agricultural sector many years ago, well in 1977, 45 years ago if you are counting, for J Bibby and Sons and became Head of Central Laboratories …

Chris will be missed, rest in peace. …

During my time at Aunir I got to know Chris as more than just “the boss” but also a good friend. He was a staunch defender of his friends and colleagues, always had the ability to find the positive in any situation and he was a true role model. He helped me greatly through tough times and he was excited for me for the good times. Chris’ passion for what he was doing and for the people around him was genuine and it is something to aspire to. The sudden news of Chris’ passing was quite a shock and deeply sad. I am very grateful to have known such a kind and gentle man. Condelences.  …
