In Loving Memory of Carole

In the gentle embrace of these pages, we come together to honour the life and journey of our dear colleague, Carole. With heavy hearts, we remember the legacy she leaves behind and the indelible mark she made on our lives during her time at EDF.

Carole’s journey with us began in 2014, and from that moment forward, her dedication, warmth, and unwavering spirit enriched the fabric of our workplace. Her presence illuminated our days, and her contributions resonated far beyond the tasks she undertook. We are profoundly saddened by her passing on the 8th of August this year, yet we find solace in the memories we shared.

As we gather these messages from her former colleagues within EDF, may this condolence book serve as a bridge between our shared grief and the love that connects us all. In these pages, we weave together stories that echo the positivity, the camaraderie, and the professionalism that defined Carole’s time among us.

To Carole’s family, we extend our deepest condolences. This book, filled with memories and kind words, is a testament to the impact she had on our lives and a reflection of the respect and affection in which she was held. May these words provide comfort, even as we acknowledge that they can never fully replace the presence we have lost.

In this space of remembrance, we honour Carole’s journey, her contributions, and the bonds forged within the halls of EDF. As we share our stories, may we find strength in each other and carry forward the legacy of the colleague and friend we hold dear.

Dear Carole, I have only recently found out about your passing and I am still in shock. We never worked together directly, but we spoke often and Rich Goodliffe and I sometimes gave you a lift back to your house in Fiveways. EDF is full of lovely people but you stood out as a truly beautiful soul with an infectious positivity and a true sense of fun. Behind your good humour lay a sharp intellect which helped you to succeed and move up in your career. I can’t believe you are gone. It seems like only last week you were having issues with that pesky laptop! I think that is the last time I saw you. Rest easy. Love Ben x …

My thoughts have continued to be with Carole’s family since first hearing from Carole of her illness. Carole regularly shared with me how proud she was of her children, especially in recent months whilst she was battling her illness. I feel privileged to have worked for Carole and to be able to  have also had her as a friend. We would chat about ballet, food, travel, family life and of course our work !  I remember fondly of our work trip to Brussels where we had a lovely evening eating mussels and discussing food and wine. I also found out about Carole’s love for waffles (photo included) . I know the positivity and humour Carole carried everywhere will live on and will have touched everyone she met.  My heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends at this sorrowful time Carole was an incredible woman and her memory will live on forever. …

It was such a privilege to have worked with Carole, she had an infectious happy personality, always positive, full of great ideas, such a wide experience and always supportive. We enjoyed talking about our non work interests, families and holidays which she looked forward to so much. Carole will be missed by so many but we’ll always have very happy memories. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends at this time. …

Lovely Carole. When I joined R&D on a secondment, she made me feel so welcome. We worked closely together for 10 months and our catch up calls were always a joy where we would discuss our families, the weather, life in general, as well as the project we were working on. Such a cheerful and positive person. I was really very shocked and saddened to hear the devastating news of her passing. She will be so missed by all. Thinking of her family who she spoke about so fondly. Rest in peace lovely Carole. …

It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a dear colleague and friend. Carole touched our lives in the most profound way during her time with us at EDF. From the moment I arrived in Brighton, from France, she extended her warm French hospitality and wisdom, making me feel at home in a new place. Over the course of the past years, Carole and I shared countless moments of collaboration and camaraderie. Her kindness and intelligence shone through in everything she did. She was always engaged and driven to improve how things were. Carole’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever live on in our hearts. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to Carole’s family during this incredibly difficult time. With heartfelt condolences,Nidhal …

Carole will be missed by all of us. We made a special connection at a transition time when we were both looking for what to do next. I remember a chat with her in the afternoon when we started talking about work and then ended up talking about family and life. She was warm, insightful, caring, a joy to talk to and open up. I felt safe with her. I send my deepest condolences to her family and the whole R&D group.  …

Carole was a joy to work with. No matter how difficult or challenging the day was she always had a smile on her face and we always had a laugh before the day was done. She was brilliantly professional, lighthearted, cheerful and a wonderful person to be around. We spoke almost everyday since I joined R&D and she taught me so much over that time period. She will always be present in my head and my heart. To her family, I am so sorry for your loss and I would like to extend my deepest condolences. Carole was a wonderful person who will always be remembered. …

I first met Carole while working on a very challenging project, and she was supportive, patient and joyful in helping me at that time. I have found that these qualities were typical of Carole and the opportunity I have had to work with her during my time at EDF. Especially the ability to turn a difficult problem into a cheerful meeting. Announcing the news in a project with many partners outside EDF you could see the positive impact she has had on so many people. Carole was a joy to know and I will miss her.  My thoughts and sympathy are with her family and loved ones.  …
