Brandusa Tataru-Marinescu

This remembrance book is in loving memory of Brandusa, our clever, wise, funny, beautiful, lovely and loving friend and colleague, beloved wife, mum, daughter and sister.  She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Brandusa joined Kingsley Napley from Taylor Wessing in 2015 as a senior associate. She was our first specialist, non-contentious construction lawyer and became a partner in 2017. In her years with Kingsley Napley, Brandusa developed our construction practice from scratch to become a successful and respected team in the industry.

Many will remember Brandusa most for her dedication to responsible business at Kingsley Napley,  She was a passionate advocate for Diversity and Inclusion in particular, working tirelessly to raise awareness of Diversity and Inclusion issues, and spearheading many of the changes and breakthroughs Kingsley Napley have made in this sphere.

In recognition of her passion and achievements, in December 2020  we inaugurated with Brandusa the annual Brandusa Tataru-Marinescu Award for Diversity & Inclusion.  The purpose of the award is to advance the understanding of Diversity and Inclusion issues in society, through the study and application of law.  Brandusa was very happy that this will be done in her name.

AIJA

2020 has taken away many important things from us: the chance to travel, to hug and to experience the wonderful AIJA events in person. But most of all, the year ended by taking away from us a very special colleague: Brandusa Tataru-Marinescu. She passed away on 28 December 2020 after being diagnosed with melanoma in January 2020. We are extremely saddened by this news and we send our deepest condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends. Those who have known her are well aware of her qualities. For those who have not had this chance, we will try to explain why she was so important to us. Brandusa was a brilliant construction lawyer, a lovely mum, a passionate advocate and a true cosmopolite. She was precise and inspiring; the kind of colleague you can always rely on. She first attended the Real Estate Commission meeting in September 2019 during the Annual Congress held in the wonderful setting of Rome. She immediately enriched the Commission’s work with her knowledge, her enthusiasm for law and her passion for diversity & inclusion matters. She truly believed that it was up to each of us to raise awareness among colleagues, clients, friends and families on the …

Dear Horia and family,  I am so very sorry for your loss. Brandusa was one of the senior trainees when I joined TaylorWessing and I remember how friendly and welcoming she was to us newbies. One of my favorite memories of Brandusa is from a reception at the Romanian embassy, I still remember her guiding me around the buffet of delicacies that reminded me of my childhood nanny from Sibiu. She was a natural at bringing people together and she enjoyed doing so. It was an honour to have had the chance to know her in London, even just for a few years. My deepest condolences, Rüdiger  …

Dear Horia and Family I had the pleasure of working with Brandusa and the privilege to know an amazing woman.  She was so positive and had a quiet strength about her.  She always greeted you with a smile, was interested in how you were and what you were doing.  She was generous, kind, helpful and caring.  She will be sadly missed and forever in our thoughts.  With love, Teresa xx …

Brandusa will always be with us in our thoughts.  Her qualities are instantly recalled: Brandusa was kind, she was considered, had patience, conviction and plenty of steel. She achieved so much as a specialist construction lawyer in this great, international city of London and will be recounted as a role model – both here and beyond.  Our thoughts also remain with her family during this time.  …

Dear Horia and family I worked with Brandusa at KN and know how deeply she will be missed there. Brandusa was warm, welcoming and would light up the room, particularly at AIJA events – you knew it would be a fun evening with Brandusa there. She was a brilliant ambassador for the firm and a genuinely lovely person to be around. The remembrance ceremony for Brandusa was truly beautiful – thank you for sharing it with us, particularly the photographs of such a happy life surrounded by friends and family who loved her. With love and my deepest condolences to you and your family, Lauren x …

Dear Horia and family, I am so sorry for your loss and I am thinking of you all at this difficult time. I first got to know Brandusa through the Charities Committee at KN and then we realised that we lived near to each other in Dulwich/Herne Hill so we would occasionally commute into the office together. She was very warm and friendly and I am so sorry that she is no longer with us. I will remember her so fondly. With love and deepest sympathies to you all, Love Alex x …
