In Loving Memory of

Bernard Malatrat

Bernard was full of life, wonderful energy and with a big smile on his face. Always looking at the positive side of things and wanting to appreciate every second of life. With his very own perspective on things… Loved and appreciated by so many of us because he knew how to listen & how to give. His way of living and loving LIFE is his legacy….. Please share with us here how you remember HIM: you can write a message, attach a picture or a video, or simply just say a few words… Bernard – you will always be in our hearts.

Miał w sobie ogromnie dużo wspaniałej energii i niedłączny uśmiech na twarzy. Do wszystkiego podchodził optymistycznie i chciał w pełni korzystać z każdej sekundy.

Mark Vickers

Bernard taught me French since just before I married my French wife in 2012. We’ve had lessons almost every week since then, and I made such big improvements under his expert – but always fun and relaxed – tutelage. We had so many great conversations over the years, discussing politics, sport, history, geography, family…. …

Golar Family

As a family we still struggle to believe that Bernard is no longer with us. He has certainly left an indelible mark and he will be missed; he is irreplacable.  Bernard came into our lives ten years ago to tutor our elder son. He then tutored our younger son through his A-Levels and rather …

It was ten years ago, when my son became engaged to his bilingual French-American girlfriend, that I first met Bernard.      My clunky French needed some serious help and, as soon as Bernard walked in with his friendly  smile, I knew my French lessons would be fun.   He always found interesting …

Serena and the boys

For Edytka, Natalka, family and the many friends of Bernard.  I have anticipated with pleasure for some 5/6 years my weekly leçon and Bernard never disappointed. Vocabulary and grammar faded as we progressed but never the ‘lecture à haut voix..’ So from his cleverly selected books on house renovations, electricians plumbers and roofers, there were …

I met Bernard as someone who had bought a home in France and then realised I would be unable to communicate with my neighbours. With his great talent as a teacher, his warmth and patience, Bernard managed to deal with that problem but after that he went on to introduce me to the joys …

Eddie, Jamie, Susanna and Dave

We were all shocked and saddened to hear of Bernard’s untimely passing. He came into our home to tutor the boys in French and Spanish and has been a regular visitor for some years (on Zoom of course most recently). He was demanding,  detailed, kind, considerate and full of integrity. The boys enjoyed his …
