In Loving Memory of

Berni

Bernard Malatrat

Bernard was full of life, wonderful energy and with a big smile on his face. Always looking at the positive side of things and wanting to appreciate every second of life. With his very own perspective on things… Loved and appreciated by so many of us because he knew how to listen & how to give. His way of living and loving LIFE is his legacy….. Please share with us here how you remember HIM: you can write a message, attach a picture or a video, or simply just say a few words… Bernard – you will always be in our hearts.

Miał w sobie ogromnie dużo wspaniałej energii i niedłączny uśmiech na twarzy. Do wszystkiego podchodził optymistycznie i chciał w pełni korzystać z każdej sekundy.

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this note of condolence and remembrance. The weight comes from the shock I felt at learning this news (like others, wondering about unanswered messages and I am so sorry for not persevering more strongly), and the profound sadness and loss for Edyta and …

One of the Tibetan spiritual teachers was asked by a student how they would know who was a good teacher; he responded, ‘their teachings should have the aroma of freshly baked bread’. Bernard exemplified this quality, bringing to the meetings a very supportive a mix of instruction, information, close tracking of what my needs …

Mark Vickers

Bernard taught me French since just before I married my French wife in 2012. We’ve had lessons almost every week since then, and I made such big improvements under his expert – but always fun and relaxed – tutelage. We had so many great conversations over the years, discussing politics, sport, history, geography, family…. …

Golar Family

As a family we still struggle to believe that Bernard is no longer with us. He has certainly left an indelible mark and he will be missed; he is irreplacable.  Bernard came into our lives ten years ago to tutor our elder son. He then tutored our younger son through his A-Levels and rather …

Judy Vickers

It was ten years ago, when my son became engaged to his bilingual French-American girlfriend, that I first met Bernard.      My clunky French needed some serious help and, as soon as Bernard walked in with his friendly  smile, I knew my French lessons would be fun.   He always found interesting …

Serena and the boys

Dear Edytka & Natalka, We were very sorry to hear about Bernard and cannot quite believe that he is no longer with us. Bernard taught our boys French and Spanish over the years, through GCSE and upto Alevel. He gave the boys lots of confidence and he always had a joke and a smile for …

Manish and Magda

We will remember and always feel uplifted by Bernard’s warm smile and cheerful conduct. We hope that in time, memories like ours will be consolation for you Edyta and Natalka. With love, Manish and Magda …

David Terry

For Edytka, Natalka, family and the many friends of Bernard.  I have anticipated with pleasure for some 5/6 years my weekly leçon and Bernard never disappointed. Vocabulary and grammar faded as we progressed but never the ‘lecture à haut voix..’ So from his cleverly selected books on house renovations, electricians plumbers and roofers, there were …

Indre and Glenn

We were very sad to hear this news. It was a pleasure to coach Bernard tennis, always smiling and enthusiastic to learn.  Our thoughts are with Bernard’s family. Indre and Glenn …
