Tony was a very friendly, helpful and highly knowledgeable construction engineer. He worked really well as part of the team and was really supportive of all in it. He was particularly good with his guidance and advice to young inexperienced members of the construction team. He had high standards and worked hard to make the contractors deliver to them. He was practical and pragmatic and was always very helpful to me when I had questions about construction progress and methodologies. All in all a top bloke who will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Rest in peace.  …

Tony was the go-to person for advice regarding home building works or general DIY.He was always happy to help, which he did for me on several occasions. He even surveyed my current house before I made the purchase. I am so glad I took his advice and made the move. Rugby season was always good for a bit of banter, especially when Wigan were playing Saints. Tony you will be a big miss to many God Bless …

Tony was a tremendous guy. I worked with him for several years, I was the designer on the project but benefited hugely from the practical knowledge that Tony brought to the job. He was always polite and considered in discussions even though I am sure on occasions he felt like throttling me. As part of my role I arranged for secondments to site for several young graduates and apprentices for 6 months or 6 week stints and when they returned to the design office it was very clear they had learnt a great deal from Tony on the practicalities of site work. He will be hugely missed by all. I for one feel very fortunate to have known him. …

I first met Tony when he joined our Project team at Sellafield. His knowledge and experience of civil construction was clear from the start, as was his knowledge of health and safety, my area of knowledge. He was always on top of his game and I soon understood he was a person to listen to. Tony was always helpful to the team and was a big team player. You were lucky to be in his team! You could see this both in and out of work. As a “good Wigan lad” he had played Rugby League to a good standard and it was always fun to talk rugby or boxing with him. He almost convinced me Martin Offiah (Google him) was worth his hype. A top bloke who was always helpful and entertaining to talk to, and who was also clearly dedicated to his family.  Rest Peacefully  Ian …

Having only known Tony for a couple of years, it was through this short acquaintance I was fortunate to meet a really top bloke.   Having joined Sellafield with little Civil Construction experience I found Tony to be a fountain of knowledge, willing to share his experience. This has and will continue to develop me throughout my working career.   Over coffee, or a protein shake in Tony’s case, I often enjoyed discussing WW2 conflicts with Tony, such as D-Day or the Battle of Britain. This was a mutual interest and I found Tony well versed on modern history and believed he was wasted as a Civil Engineer🤣   Never one to mince his words Tony was well respected and I believe someone people looked up to as a person.   Tony… you have moved on far too soon mate and i hope you are at peace wherever that may be.   R.I.P                                                                                             …

Where to begin Tony was my line manager officially but it quickly became apparent that he was more a friend and a teacher than my line manager. I still don’t know if he believed my timesheets as he often asked how on earth I got my time in when I arrived after him and left before he did. Tony had an extremely good work ethic and on one Sunday following an incident at work he was the only person that answered and came to help as I was way out of my depth. That’s the thing about Tony he was always there for me at work and in my personal life, he gave me confidence, knowledge and always had my back unconditionally, the same went for others in the team. Tony was one hell of a genuine guy and if you got to know him and build a relationship with him he would be there for you no matter what.  I can’t thank Tony for the influence he had on my life but it was profound and will never be forgotten.  God rest his soul.  …

Where to start with Tony. I first met Tony when I moved into my final placement of my apprenticeship. I soon learned that Tony was not only there to talk about work related issues (that he always knew the answer for), but he was more of a mate to talk about life/career related matters. Tony was a big supporter of all the members of our team including Nathan, Mark and Tom to name a few. He would always back us in our own development, giving guidance when required. Many a Monday me and Tony would discuss the United results or what crazy rowing time he was going for next.  Although I met Tony as a work colleague, I would later consider him more of a mate and this is how I will always remember him. A great bloke who will be greatly missed.  …

Not being a person who is comfortable with change at work, I was somewhat on edge when Tony started as my line manager…. would we get on, could we together, will he want to change how I do things… within a week it felt I had known Tony for years, and it felt as if worked together for years! He took an interest in you both at work and away from work…. he knew your strengths and weaknesses, he always had your back and that wasn’t just with me but the rest of his team. He had a very strong work ethic, but we still managed to have a crack and a joke along the way  Possibly one of the most helpful people I have ever came across in my life. He helped me at my home laying a floor and installing my new staircase… no money changed hands but one statement was said… give me a hand when I want help, and that’s what happened. Every day I walk on the floor and up the stairs knowing my mate Tony gave me hand to put them in A real genuine bloke, who has left a big mark on …

I worked with Tony for about 4 years on the BEP project at Sellafield and will always remember him for his integrity, intelligence, professionalism, generosity and sense of humour. If any of the team needed any advice, particularly regarding building work or DIY, Tony was the fountain of all knowledge and would be the man to go to. I feel privileged to have known Tony and, miss him greatly, as do all of the team.   …

I met Tony the day I started on my first job in construction. Dave pointed me in his direction as the man to see for anything I wanted to know. He certainly wasn’t wrong, and to this day I have never met anyone else more clued up than Tony. As many others have experienced, my working relationship with Tony quickly turned into a friendship. That friendship with Tony, and the other great lads in the team made it a brilliant place to come to work and have a laugh, regardless what was going on with the job. Everyone who knows Tony knows that he had some great life advice that went beyond work, and he acted as a great mentor to myself and some of the others. His honest and straight talking style, always backed up by competence and integrity was something I admired in him greatly. Tony left a big impression on me, and will always be someone I look up to and take inspiration from. Most importantly I will remember him as a fantastic bloke and a great friend.  …
