My heartfelt condolences to Alistairs family. I have worked with Alistair over the last few years and I will remember him as extremely professional, he was very passionate about his job but at the same time very approachable and helpful even with my often stupid questions. He shared a genuine interest in all the projects he got involved in and we had many interesting and friendly conversations. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues at this difficult time.  …

Devastated that we’ve lost you too soon Alistair, you were in your prime and being the best husband and Daddy anyone could ask for, and for that to end is unfathomable. I have so many wonderful memories of you, and when we first met back in St Andrews. You took me under your wing,  introducing me to everything wonderful about the town,  allowing me to come out of my shell and really enjoy university life.  I was the Vice to your President (of Chemsoc no less), and we got each other through our PhDs with lots of nights out, music quizzes,  holidays, celebrations, and most of all tremendous laughs.  Everyone got on with you Alistair, because you were so open and friendly it was hard not to! It was lovely meeting your parents numerous times, and you could tell immediately how proud they were of you,  and I pass on my sincere condolences to them and your brother and family.  I’m so glad we continued to be close as we moved into our first “proper” jobs, and luckily both worked together at Jumpstart for 10 years. So many great work memories, interspersed with continuing to socialise outside work. We …

Alistair’s loss is devastating. I had the pleasure of working with him for over ten years but, most importantly, Alistair was a friend. I have great memories of my time with him – his getting lost in the forest while we were paintballing on my stag do will live long in the memory. It’s difficult to find appropriate words right now and you could write ad infinitum describing all the good things about Alistair. Our time with him and his time with the girls being cut short is so terribly cruel. However, he will never be forgotten. Despite his young age, Alistair certainly left his mark on the World, and, through the girls, he has left his legacy. We will miss him but he will live on forever in our hearts. Sending love to you all. …

What can I say that has not already been said about such a great man. I have been working alongside Alistair for over five years and throughout that time I have always looked forward to catching up with him to hear about what he had been up to. Most of his stories started with him calling me “chief” not sure if that something he did with everyone but it always made me smile.  Over the years we must have talked for hours about the absymal performance of our fantasy football teams always dreaming that one day we would get it right. I remember how excited he was when Steven Gerrard became the manager at Rangers and potentially getting the chance to meet him… Nothing was ever too much hassle for him and he always made time to pop his head round the door to say hello no matter how busy he was. I was speaking to someone the other day and they described him as a gentle teddy bear and to honest I can’t top that description of him. Hopefully, when Carlotta and Anneka get a bit older they are able to read some of the wonderful messages to …

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Alistair’s sudden passing. I first meet Alistair in June 2017 when he first came to assist with our R&D tax Claim, and from the first meeting and our subsequent communications Alistair was not only professional, knowledgeable, and helpful, but an all-round good guy and family man. Rest in peace Alistair, my thoughts are with your wife and girls at this very difficult time. …

Sadly, so short a time and yet what grand memories of Alistair too. Lunch in the café under the shadow of the Daresbury Tower, the second generation synchrotron, with its history linked inextricably to 2 Nobel Prizes for Chemistry; wandering the industrial estates of the North East looking for peripatetic clients; driving round and round and round and round and round East Kilbride; lengthy lunches in the Newhouse Beefeater; many long chats in the Town Wall Newcastle waiting for our train, well, usually a couple of trains at least. Now a place of special memories, it’ll be a dram there next time. Actually make that a double. …

Sincere condolences from Australia to Alistairs family on his passing. Having had the pleasure of working with Alistair over the past number of years it is with great sadness that im having to write this message. He has always been a constant source of encouragement and kindness to me while working with Abgi. Ive also had the pleasure of playing golf with Alistair and although futile he constantly filled me with encouragement that my shots were helping in our efforts. He will be sorely missed in all aspects of life in Abgi. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis (may he rest in peace) …

I am absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of Alistair’s untimely passing. My thoughts and condolences are with his family at this very difficult time. Alistair was a tremendous help to our business year after year. He was an extremely intelligent and knowlegeable individual and always offered such sage advice in his work. However, much more impotant than all this, Alistair was a lovely human being. He was so friendly, personable, witty and fun to be with. I certainly enjoyed our chats that had nothing whatsoever to do with work and I’ll miss them greatly. A tragic loss at such a young age. Rest easy, Alistair. …
